Talk about romantic. What a wedding! It was nice for the family to get together and attend Yesenia and Carlos' wedding. It was a magical place to be honest. The people were great, the food was yummy, and then you have the beach. Enough said I think.

What an amazing time we ( my friend Alan and I) had in Colombia. Spent 9 glorious days in South America surrounded by family and great friends. We began our trek in Cali, then on to Pereira, Manizales, Santa Rosa, and finally wrapped it up in El Darien, on the lake known as Lago Calima.

South Pardre Island is awesome, the best part about this trip besides the fact that we're at the beach is there are hardly any tourists. The beach is empty, and Traffic is great. Yesterday we went into town (Brownsville) to old navy, and to eat at chillis. This little getaway was a great last minute idea before school starts. Well, headed out to the beach. South Padre Island

I've been wanting to catch some rays badly, but the Miami plans were kinda ruined with the "tropical storm". So I started thinking South Padre. I started to check hotels and found an amazing deal for $49 a night at the WindWater Resort. We'll be there from the 8th - 12th. Doesn't look half bad for the cheap price. It's been years since I went down there and we had some good times. Can't wait to post pictures.

Well, it's that time of year again for Lauren to have her pictures made. Sabrina Jenks is the sweetest!!! We went to the Botanic gardens in Ft. Worth, and had these unique shots made.
Lauren was sooooo happy. It's hard to believe my little girl is 16! I feel old. :'(
I just wanted to share these with you. I'm sad Sabrina will be moving to California. She'll make a stop in Arizona, then California.

I've been terrible at blogging since I started working.. Having said that, teaching is no easy task. I've been teaching high school Spanish 2. The kids are great, and I'm enjoying my new found career very much. One of the greatest perks of being a teacher is all the time off of course. Having the same holidays off as Lauren and not to mention the whole summer off. We were lucky enough to go to Egypt last month. It was an amazing trip needless to say. Cairo was breathtaking, we had a great tour guide named Vanda, who was full of knowledge of this fabulous country. We were very lucky. Not only were the pyramids of Giza amazing to see, but also the Red Sea.... wow is all I can say! We had the great fortune of not only visiting Cairo, but also Taba and Dahab. The Red Sea was spectacular! The culture was unique and the people were terrific. Here are some pictures of our trip.. Hope to be back blogging more frequently.

My life has been consumed with work for the last 2 months... But now, I think I have the hang of things. I love it. The kids are great, and the teachers I work with are amazing. The first six weeks are out of the way, and I had no child fail my class. That's a good thing. So many things have happened since I blogged last. Fabian and Angie moved back to Texas from D.C. They're living in Coppell, and we're excited to have them back!! My mom went to Colombia for a week. She brought back candy for my students.. they loved it. I got a new car. Well, it's for Lauren really. She's been wanting a Ford Mustang for years!! and she'll be 16 soon, so I bought it to drive until her birthday, then I will get my dream car. Well, I'm not gonna make this very long. I'm just excited to report I love my job. So glad I stuck it out. Anyway! Here are the pictures. :)

Well, it's the 4th week of school, and it's getting better. The first 3 weeks were brutal!! I barely get enough sleep, and I'm pretty much tired the whole week. I want to do something for the weekend, but by the time the weekend comes around all I wanna do is SLEEP! I'm getting to know my kids... (all 160 of them). I have shy ones, sweet ones, and the ones who want to take me out on dates. LOL
I'm grateful to be working with some great teachers that have taken me in, and helped me out a lot!
Life is good right now.

The annual Suicide walk is coming up, I hope my friends can make it.

We attended our family reunion this past week, and it was an indescribable feeling being around all my family.. It was also a celebration for my grandmothers 85th birthday. I know most of the people who visit my blog are my friends on facebook, so that's why I've been a little slacker on updating my blog! Skydiving Finally!!

I loved it! It was amazing.. The cost was about $229, at Skydive Dallas , click here for the link.
I was really scared, my stomach was in knots!!!! It was a little scary at first because I thought it was gonna feel like I was a brick falling from the sky, but to my surprise... It felt as I was floating, swimming I dunno.. I felt light as a feather. It was the most amazing feeling, not anything like a rollercoaster ride. The temperature was great, about 40 degrees cooler than on the ground, and the view from the sky was brilliant! I had a great tandem partner his name is Ernie. I would recommend this to any of my friends.. I wanna do it again soon!!!

I've dropped off 5 portfolio packets to schools near me, but no calls back yet. I really need to sit and make more up, and deliver them. If I don't find something by August, I may start subbing or take a job in Korea. They called me a couple of days ago, and it seems to be a really good deal. They offer me a furnished apt., round trip air fare, and only a 35 hour a week work week. I'll have to talk to Lauren and see if she's willing to be home schooled for a year.
Lauren's been at camp for almost a week now, I'll be glad when she gets home. I miss her..
and I'll be glad to spend Father's Day with my daddy.

Rolling Stones!

I've always had some serious problems with my kidneys, this makes the 4th time I've had kidney stones... I really hate it.. It's excruciating pain, far worse than childbirth.
I wish this on no one, not even my worst enemy.. lol
I went to the hospital, got a CT scan and was told .. Yep... you have a stone (I had already told them this...) they gave me some Vicodin, and went on my merry way. Well, my mom happened to see her acupuncturist that day, and he gave her these little tablets. I was to take 8 of them, 3 times a day. So, I did. I finally passed the stone a day later. I'm still in pain... I will be posting pics of the culprit soon....
for now.. I think I will try to rest.

Last night Cris and I hung out, I love hanging out with my sister... I love that we're so close. She's so pretty too. No need to go on and on.. I'll just post the pics.. Just like the saying goes

So today Tony and I went to Bartlett to pay Robert a little visit. It was a rainy day on and off I guess. We had the top down in his convertible, and just as we got into Bartlett, Tony decided to put the top back on because we saw some dark clouds.... well not 2 seconds later, it starts to pour... whew!!! It was close... Once we got into Bartlett, we were clicking pictures left and right, we even got a picture of a little bunny. Anyway... on our way to Bartlett, we saw nothing but corn fields... So what are we to do??? Reallocate some corn, according to Tony! lol
So we were the corn snatchers.. after that we went to eat some yummie BBQ in Temple, Chuck's Pea Ridge Bbq & Steak House, a cute little hole-in-the-wall, where the owner sat down with us and we shared a little conversation about his fabulous food. After that, with our bellies filled, we took off and headed back to Dallas. On our way back we stopped at Joe Pool Lake, and walked on the dam. We took pictures of the flowers, and after a long day, we got home, and I crashed -- The best nap I've had in a long time.

On Sunday, Jeff Renner, Cris, Lauren and I went to the DMA to see the King Tut exhibit... It was amazing.. We loved it. I secretly took pictures until I got caught.. Dammit!

and just for the record.... My sister is gorgeous... and so talented.. she even made a mummy out of metallic pipe cleaners.. WOW! It was amazing... I guess I'm not the only amazing one (hence the name of my blog)

I finally finished college!!! yay! I love it that I can sleep til noon ( at least until school starts again in June)

Ok... where to begin.. My Sony VAIO recently crashed, so I've been a little disconnected from the world... ( the things technology does to us, geez! )
Since my computer died, I have been to Vegas, applied for grad school, passed my teacher certification test, and had lots of sushi..
I went to see Reza, had a great time as always.. hence the pictures. I'm most excited about having passed the teacher certification test... I made an 87 -- I am now a Spanish Teacher 6-12
I have one more tiny test to take, and I'm working on my resume... and hope to have a job at the high school here by my house.
We shall see...
well sorry I've been so lacking in updating my bloggy blog.

Skydiving: Take 4

After rescheduling for a 4th time... we finally made it to Skydive Dallas.... took the "training class" (15 min video) and we were ready to jump... However, we were unable to due to the 31 mph winds.. grrrrrr!

But we did manage to take some pictures of the sign! LOL

Next Monday we shall attempt again!

Today Lauren had her tonsils removed. What a way to spend St. Patricks Day! not to mention Spring break period. We got to the hospital around 1pm and she didn’t get wheeled into the OR until almost 5pm. She was nervous, but it all went well, and things are great now. Although the nurse said when she woke up from the anesthesia she was kicking and screaming, and had to be held down by 3 nurses!! They did say that type of reaction is normal. (huh???) Anyway, she’s been eating ice cream and popsicles. I’m super glad this was done during Spring Break, and she probably won’t have to miss school next week, at least, I hope not.

Yesterday was Austin's party --- WOW! talk about exhausting ... 15 three-year olds running around.... I swear! I don't know how these women do it. I was tired just by being there. We had a blast... this was her Christmas present for me, since a couple of years ago she had a mortifying experience, and vowed never to perform again.... I'm glad she changed her mind. Paul Granada
April 10, 1981 - October 28, 2005

I can hardly believe as I type these words, that is has been 3 years since my brother Paul left us. Every year around Halloween time, I feel like just hiding and make believe that none of this ever happened, but the reality of it is, he is really gone. As we all get older, and the kids grow up I realize just how much he really missed out on. It wasn't worth it Paul, it really wasn't. If you knew Paul, you know he was warm, gentle, and kind. So out of his character to remove himself from all of our lives. I know about depression... We all get depressed at some point and time in out lives and experience these feelings. The difference is some of us don't snap out of it like we should. Mental illness is just that..... an illness. I assure you if Paul was in his "right mind" this wouldn't have happened. It's very important to bring light to Mental Illness and support those programs in search of funding to increase awareness on a bigger scale.
I will be walking on October 18, 2008 in memory of my brother Paul. I encourage you to read up on Suicide Awareness. If I had known what I know now about Suicide and the warning signs, my brother would probably be alive.

I got to the Madrid airport about 7 or 8 am, can't remember; I waited until 4:35pm to leave. Why??? don't know.. Just bought my ticket to leave that late...

Last day in Spain

We celebrated at the Negra Flor (a local bar) in Valladolid, and from there to Sotobanco ( a discoteca). I decided not to sleep that night since I had to be at the bus station in Valladolid at 4:00 am. I'm glad I didn't, b/c I was ready and on time by 3:45. Anyway, we left Valladolid, and took a 2.5 hour bus ride to Madrid. We were there with plenty of time to spare!
It was nice to hang out with everyone before leaving.. I met some great people, and made great friendships.. Here are some pictures from the night.

I went to Santander this weekend and it was so cool... The water was freeeeezing cold.. Maybe because we're close to the Arctic?? I went in for 2 seconds and couldn't bear it.... It was a really nice little town. Glad I went. We ate a wonderful restaurant, the food was exquisite, and not too expensive....Here are some pictures from the trip.

As you probably read before, I hurt my knee about a week after being here.. Don't know what happened ( I think I pulled a ligament or something on our first excursion to Salamanca).
Well, my host "mom" has 2 houses.. The first one being about 45 minutes away from our school, which is where I was staying.... and the other a cool retro place about 5 minutes from the school. The only thing is.... this apt. is a little run down. Either way, I would rather live here than keep injuring my knee, so I asked her if I could stay in the retro place, and she was cool with it. So after signing a waiver for UTA stating they weren't liable for anything that happened to me or my belongings , ( since the place is a little inhabitable ) I moved in.
The apt. is huge in comparison with the "pisos" here.. Pisos are the apartement flats. It's been nice having the whole place to myself... having friends over to study or whatever. I have internet connection, which is a luxury, and a washer. Things are not too shabby for me.
The only thing I would love is that the host "mom" feeds me. When I moved out she gave me 10 euros, and I've practically had to buy my own food since then. Kind of a problem, b/c it's relatively expensive to do anything here, even eat, and the food was included in the price of my trip. I'm not going to say anything to her... because I don't feel like I should be put in that position, and plus... If you know me.... I just won't say anything to her because I don't feel comfortable.
My life here has been pretty cool so far, besides the homesickness at the beginning.

León Spain

Today a group of us decided to take a day trio to León. It was a 2 hour bus ride north. Some of the things we saw were Gaudí's Casa de los Botines, and the old Cathedral of Leon.
Santa María de León Cathedral, also called The House of Light or the Pulchra Leonina is situated in the city of León in north-west Spain. It was built on the site of previous Roman hot baths of the 2nd century which, 800 years later, the emblematic king Ordoño II converted into a palace. Its doors, its impressive rose window, the choir (one of the oldest in the country) and the delicacy of some figures, like the venerated Virgin Blanca presiding over the constant traffic of visitors, are some of the not-to-be-missed features of this cathedral.
The León Cathedral, dedicated to Santa María de la Regla, was declared of Cultural Interest in 1844. It is known as the Pulchra Leonina and it is a masterpiece of the Gothic style dominating the mid 13th century, by master architect Enrique. In the late 16th century it was virtually finished.

Both were very interesting... We also visited The Palacio de los Guzmanes.
It was interesting because Construction work on this 16th-century building was never finished.
It is the work of the architect Enrique Gil de Hontañón. Its shape is trapezoid. It has four towers, one at each corner. It also has a courtyard with columns. On its façades, of contoured stone slabs, there are several carvings. On the lower part of the building you can find large openings with solid grilles and corbels with the arms of the Guzmans. On the upper part there are balconies with projecting sills and iron balustrades. It was declared a National Monument in 1963. Currently the home of the Leon Regional Government.

After the tour we walked around and took a siesta.. as you can see the little old man down there was enjoying as well. It was a nice interesting place, not to mention the fact that they had BURGER KING!!!! I really enjoyed that.

Flamenco Night at Cafe España

Last night Jose, Robyn, Dustin, and I went to see this fabulous trio of the very popular Spanish music known as Flamenco. It was quite a treat. Flamenco music is really sung with such intense feeling. Here's a little history about Flamenco.... and some pictures from last night.

Flamenco is a Spanish musical genre with strong, rhythmic undertones and is often accompanied with a similarly impassioned style of dance characterized by its powerful yet graceful execution, as well as its intricate hand and footwork. Flamenco embodies a complex musical and cultural tradition. Although considered part of the culture of Spain in general, flamenco actually originates from one region: Andalusia. However, other areas, mainly Extremadura and Murcia, have contributed to the development of several flamenco musical forms, and a great number of renowned flamenco artists have been born in other territories of the state. The roots of flamenco are not precisely known, but it is generally acknowledged that flamenco grew out of the unique interplay of native Arabic, Andalucian, Islamic, Sephardic, and Gypsy cultures that existed in Andalucia prior to and after the Reconquest. Latin American and especially Cuban influences have also been important in shaping several flamenco musical forms.

Once the seeds of flamenco were planted in Andalucia, it grew as a separate subculture, first centered in the provinces of Seville, Cádiz and part of Málaga—the area known as Baja Andalucía (Lower Andalusia)—but soon spreading to the rest of Andalucia, incorporating and transforming local folk music forms. As the popularity of flamenco extended to other areas, other local Spanish musical traditions (e.g. the Castilian traditional music) would also influence, and be influenced by, the traditional flamenco styles.

I guess I can talk a little about my stay here so far..... The people here are very straight faced and not very friendly to outsiders. Nothing like good 'ole country charm here, like we find in Texas. When I first arrived, I thought it was a little difficult to walk everywhere... I don't mind it as much now. The weather has been particularly diffictult to deal with since it's 85-90 degrees during the day and suddenly drops to 55-60 at night. (it's undertstandable since Valladolid has somewhat high altitude)
The coolest thing is the night life on the weekends. What I mean by night life is not the clubbing scene, but everyone gets together at the Plaza Mayor - you know.... like the town square. People have their dinner around 10pm, and then go out, to socialize... it's great..
I've enjoyed my stay here so far... I got really homesick about the 2nd week in, but now I see the light at the end of the tunnel...Can't wait to be home in 2 and a half weeks.
There's more to say but I will have to think and come back.. gotta go for now.

We went to visit Segovia today... It was amazing.. that's what I say about every city I see here.
I love the architecture and most of all, just the simple fact that it's ancient. I mean 13th century stuff!!!! incredible. The most amazing part of the trip was seeing the aqueduct of Segovia, it was a majestic view. We also saw the Alcazar of Segovia....
Here is the amazing historical summary --

The site of the Alcázar of Segovia, on the top of a rock shaped by the rivers Eresma and Clamores, shows the military origins of this fortress which, for centuries, was impregnable.

The oldest testimony we have of the Alcázar is a document dating from the early days of the 12^th century (1122), a short time after the town had been recaptured by Alfonso VI, which refers to the fortress as a hill-fort on the Eresma. A short time later, in a letter of 1155, it was already being referred to as "Alcázar". However, it is more than probable that the fortress had existed in earlier times, possibly since the Roman occupation, because granite blocks similar to those of the Aqueduct have been found in the course of recent excavations. In residencies of the monarchs of Castile, partly due to the beauty of its location and its unquestionable military secureness, and partly for its proximity to the famous hunting-grounds in the mountain forests.

No architectural remains of this royal palace have been found previous to the times of Alfonso VIII "de las Navas" (late 12^th century or early 13^th century). However, the fact remains that there is a progressive consolidation of the process whereby the fortress acquires its status as a residence for the Court. The alterations were made in the elegant austerity of the Cistercian style, at the beginning of the transitional period between the Romanesque and the Gothic styles. Undoubtedly the gallery on the north side belongs to this period, consisting of a large hall (called the Great Hall) flanked on both sides by private rooms in the oriental style. The great western tower, called "Torre del Homenaje" (the Keep) follows the same design as the central part of the Alcázar. It consists of a hall topped with a pointed barrel vault and double-arched windows (mullioned) in its walls, which was used as an armoury. Despite the Cistercian character of these buildings, the Moorish art appears in the painted decorations such as the skirting boards with lace patterns painted in red on the light-coloured plaster background.

Alfonso X "The Wise" showed a special liking for Segovia and made the Alcázar into one of his favourite residences until the later days of his life, when the Parliament was held in this town which had remained loyal to him.In the 14^th century, Segovia bore witness to the struggle between different noble factions which the Alcázar did not escape; the new usage of artillery forced it to reinforce its walls and extend its defences. The monarchs of the Trastámara dynasty made use of the new gallery, parallel to the previous one, and converted it into a sumptuous series of halls in the style of the alcázares of Andalusia. The Gothic-Mudéjar decorations in these halls were begun in the times of Catherine of Lancaster, her son Juan II's regent. During his reign the great feasts at court, evoked by Jorge Manrique in his famous "Coplas", took place.

Enrique IV, very fond of Segovia, continued to embellish the Alcázar; during his reign the large tower bearing his father's name must have been finished. The Alcázar was a key fortress for the control of Castile, and it was from here that Isabella the Catholic set out for the Main Square to be proclaimed Queen. The Alcázar was also important during the civil wars of all successive periods, from the reign of Juana the Mad and the war of the "Comunidades" to the War of the Spanish Succession in the 18th century and the Carlist wars in the 19th century.

The monarchs of the Austrian dynasty frequently visited it and Philip II married his fourth wife, Anna of Austria, here. This King had important alterations made in the Alcázar, such as the patio in the Herrera style, and he had the roofs covered with conical slate spires in the style of the Central European castles.

Later on, the Alcázar was used as a state prison, where several important people were confined. It remained like that until 1762 when Carlos III founded the Royal School of Artillery, and installed it in the Alcázar in 1764. The first director of the School was Count Félix Gazola. The Royal School stayed here, except for short periods of time, until March 6, 1862, when a fire destroyed the roofs. From this date to the present the Royal School, later called the Artillery Academy, has been located in the convent of St. Francis in Segovia. The Alcázar was restored and, in 1898, the General Military Archives were installed on the upper floor. In 1953, the "Patronato del Alcázar" (Alcázar Trust) of Segovia was created; this is the institution in charge of the museum nowadays.

Salamanca, Spain!!!!

Here's a litle info on Salamanca, Spain.
It was constructed between the 16th in and 18th centuries in two styles: late Gothic and Baroque. Building began in 1513 and the cathedral was consecrated in 1733. It was commissioned by Ferdinand II of Spain. It was declared a national monument by royal decree in 1887.

The building began at a time when the gothic style was becoming less popular and was merging with the new Renaissance style, giving the resulting Plateresco style in Spain. However, this cathedral retained more of its Gothic character because the authorities wanted the new cathedral to blend with the old one. Thus the new cathedral was constructed, continuing with Gothic style during the 17th and 18th centuries. However, during the 18th century, two elements were added that broke with the showy form with the predominant style of the building: a Baroque cupola on the transept and the final stages of the bell tower. The new cathedral was constructed without the subsequent destruction of the old cathedral as normally happened but a wall of the new cathedral, leans on the North wall of the old one. For this reason, the old cathedral had to be reinforced, and the bell tower was constructed on the old one. Two of the main architects of the cathedral were J. Gil de Hontañón and his son Rodrigo in 1538.

Its main entrance consists of 3 arcs, each leading to the 3 naves (sections) of the church. All three are richly carved.^[1] Among the ornate carvings on the facade is the incongruous likeness of an astronaut floating in space. The astronaut was carved in recent years.

Day 3 - First Day of School

It's been a few days since I uploaded pictures... I actually had internet access where I live ( I was using an unsecured connection, I guess they found out b/c I can't get a signal now.
SO... here some pictures until I can actually sit and post a new entry.
I love food.... this is why I take a picture of everything I eat!!
I will be leaving tomorrow for Salamanca and I will be taking tons of pictures!

The pictures below are my roommate and me, the seafood at the grocery store, and me at a Colombian restaurant.

Things are starting to get easier. I'm learning my way around town, using the map less than before, and the jet lag is almost completely gone.
Last night, we went out to eat, a group of us. We had a plate full of appetizers with all kinds of seafood. We were told by the instructors and others not to eat mayonaise unless it was made at home (people make their own mayonaise here, and eat it a lot too.) Well, stuborn me, had to eat the food that had the most mayo!
Well, what do you think happened?? Yup! I got sick and more than likely it was from the MAYO. This morning I woke up puking and feeling sick! My stomach was in knots. It was the first day of class so I decided not to stay home... that would be irresponsible. I went, but we took a taxi. When we got to school I looked at all the schedules posted on the door. I was under the impression I was going to take 2 classes, but as it turns out I'm taking 3 classes.
1. The History of Spain - from the first man until 2008.
2. Business Spanish - Kinda like Economics
3. Spanish Culture
The first 2 classes are with the same instructor, Sergio. He's hilarious. The third class is with this girl Sara, seems really cool...
Well, that was school.. BTW, I started to feel better as the day progressed.
When we got home Irene ( Our Host ) had cooked some squash and brown rice for me. Since she knew I wasn't feeling well, she made something light for me to eat. That was really sweet.
After Robyn and I had lunch, we headed out to find an ATM because Robyn needed some money. We took this new street that wasn't on the map, and saw this man harvesting his garden, He had green beans, carrots, swash, you name it! He also had this HUGE Fig tree.. It was amazing... We sat and talked to him for a while then we were on our way.. We were walking up this bridge and ran accross the cutest kodak moment. 4 little old ladies just being cute! OMG, this country is made up of mostly elderly people. It was an interesting fact to have learned today in our Culture class. It's also interesting to see all the people walking... (Angie, people walk here more than DC).
We ended up at "EL Corte Ingles" a famous dept. store here in Spain, kinda like a Dillards,or Macy's.. and found some great deals. Every store here is having deals! This is the month for discounts. All the stores advertise and most everything is 50% off..... (still expensive because our famous U.S. Dollar isn't worth shit!) I bought some cute sandals for $3 Euros. After we went shopping we headed back to the house, ate, and that's my day in a nutshell.. I'll have to post pics tomorrow. I'm using one of the neighbors unsecured connection and it's hard to keep a steady connection going at any given time, so I'll have to do it from school.

The flight here was great.. On the leg from DFW to Chicago I really got to know my roomate and she is really cool. Her name is Robyn and she's a 28 year old teacher from Ft. Worth. We have a great deal in common and she's cool. The on the leg from Chicago to Madrid I met these 2 guys who were on their way to Pomplona for the running of the bulls. It was cool they've been all over the world... It was nice to have someone to talk to since I didn't sleep. Then this happened yesterday.....the first day here I took tons of pictures. I mean like 140 pictures.. I got home transfered the pictures to my computer, deleted them from the camera, then went to check them out and I had one picture!!! Just one!
I was so pissed... Luckly Robyn had taken almost the same exact pictures...
But today I was able to take more... here are some of the pics I took.. Ok. I will have to write more tomorrow when I have more time.. I super delirious right now...It's like 2 am here.

Can you believe I just started packing! I'm such a procastinator... I just know I'll forget something. My sister and I will have a girls night tonight and spend some time together before I leave! I've decided to keep this as my travel journal... Feel free to come and visit if you'd like.

Since I'm leaving on Friday to go to Spain, I drove aaaaaaaall the way to Frisco to see my gorgeous sister and nephews... Ethan is a little chubster, and Austin just growing so fast... He can even swim now. WOW! 2 years old, and swimming, and I also can't believe my Lauren is going to High School this year... Amazing.

After I left DC ( sniff sniff ) I had to swing by Chicago and visit some family, and my grandma.

We were eating breakfast and saw the baby deer at the bottom just outside the window, and the mother Deer eating the flowers in the back yard... How sweet is that??

So, I applied for the summer study abroad program at school, not thinking I would get it, and I did.... So I'm off to Valladolid, Spain. I'm sad about leaving my Loli, but she'll be staying with Cris since they're moving back for good. I know Lauren will love to do that. She doesn't know yet, but I'm taking her to Disney World in November. A friend I went to school is not an Authorized Disney World Vacation planner, you can check out her website here. She got us an amazing deal! (less than $900 for the both of us, including air/hotel) So needless to say, she'll have a blast since she's never been!
About the trip to Spain, there's a group of 22 people going.. and we get to study at one of the oldest universities in Spain, I cannot wait to take tons of pictures. You can check out this cute little video about the program here.
I had the option of choosing to stay with a host family or live in one of the dorms at the University, so I made the decision to stay with the host family... I figured I'll be there for a month,I so might as well immerse myself in the culture to really appreciate it (even though I'll probably feel awkward, and I'm not too crazy about Spanish food).
We go to school Mon-Fri and for 4 hours a day, and I am planning 2 weekend trips. One to Paris to see my friend Issa, and then to Brussels with him. The other trip to either Barcelona or Valencia, can't decided which cousins to go see. I'm so grateful to be able to go, financial aid is covering the entire trip, and hopefully I'll be able to get a scholarship too.
Anyway, I just had to inform you guys... Until next time~

I worked at Western Union for 5 years, it was the best job of my life so far..... not because of the job, but because of the people... I met some of the most interesting people and made some of the best friends.. As you all probably know, Fabian, Cristina, and Paul all worked there.. Fabian and I were the ones that worked there the longest, but everyone at WU loved the Granadas.
WU will be closing their doors in June. Forever.
The union at work threw a party for all the employees and everyone enjoyed getting together one last time... The party was for employees past and present... Here are some pictures from that!

Hello guys!
Well, I tried to go to church, just ended up staying for sacrament... I think I'm getting a cold, my throat feels sore, I have the sniffles, and don't feel good... It comes at the most inopportune time since Spring Break is over.
I even forgot to take pictures of Lauren in her pretty Easter dress, I guess it's OK though since she's not 5 anymore... ( eyes welling up!)
